Gego – Gertrude Goldschmidt
I have always found the work of Gego to be very inspiring. The drawings and installations are very contemporary and architectural, even though they were produced decades ago. Very few people are aware of Gego and her fantastic legacy, so feel free to spread the word or reference her to sound smart.
There are [...]

Urban Transformation is a fantastic book from Andreas and Ilka Ruby at Ruby Press based in Berlin, Germany.
Urban Transformation features projects, essays and ideas from some of our favorite urban thinkers such as Keller Easterling, Teddy Cruz and Robert Somol.
A project from the desks here at Sinking Cities managed to make it in the [...]

REX Dollhouse for Calvin Klein
“By treating a New York street like landscape—and Calvin Klein’s storefront like a New York street—we created a detached single-family dollhouse in Manhattan for the Calvin Klein woman,” said architect Prince-Ramus. “Undeniably frivolous, the ‘Madison Avenue (Doll)House’ still suggests a kernel of an idea for accommodating growth in existing population centers.” -REX
LEGO Villa Savoy
Here we have an interesting lego rendition of Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoy, originally constructed in 1929.

OMA NY (REX) Museum Plaza Video
Here is an interesting video from OMA NY showing their Museum Plaza Proposal. The video is a couple years old now but features a nice mash up of real and CG footage.

Future Systems – 367 Oxford Street
Future Systems has completed an interested remodel at 367 Oxford Street. I am a fan of Future Systems’ simple but quirky designs. This project consisted of adding two facades and an additional floor to an existing structure.
Magnetic Curtain by Florian Krautli
Check out this wonderful magnetic curtain/room divider. I am a bit fascinated by this product as it has a wonderfully strong sculptural presence in a room. It is not yet for sale, but I can imagine it will be very popular once on the market. I love the facets created by [...]

McDonald’s Architecturally Rebranded
McDonald’s Quarter Pounder Store
Once upon a time in Tokyo, McDonald’s attempted to take on a new persona. A high class profile, with select (only two) menu options, and a stab at sleek architecture. Honestly, it looks like a sleazy Vegas strip club with an all you can eat burger buffet than anything else – [...]
